Hey there music lovers,  today we're taking a quick trip back to one of the most iconic bands to come out of New York punk  and the new wave scene, Blondie. So grab your favourite vinyl or fire up your cassette player and let's dive into their story.

Blondie burst out of the New York City punk and new wave scene in the mid 70s. Formed in 1974 by guitarist Chris Stein and Debbie, the band quickly became a fixture at the legendary CBGB club. Their self-titled debut album in 1976 showcased their raw punk roots, but it was their third album, Parallel Lines, in 1978 that catapulted them to international fame.

Parallel lines gave us hits like Heart of Glass,  a disco infused track that initially divided fans but went to the top of the charts worldwide. Blondie wasn't afraid to experiment blending the underground with mainstream, all while keeping that punk attitude.

And speaking of pioneering, Blondie was among the first to fuse rock with hip hop  on the track Rapture,  a song that introduced rap to a wider audience in 1981.  Debbie Harry's cool delivery helped the song become the first rap song to hit number one  on the Billboard charts.

Despite massive success the band faced challenges  including internal tensions  and changes in the music scene and they eventually split in the early  1980s but Debbie Harry's influence and the band's legacy only grew.

03:34

Blondie made a stunning comeback in late 1990s and  2000s  with albums like No Exit and hits such as Maria proving their timeless appeal. They're not just a band from the past, Blondie continues to inspire artists and fans around the world.  So whether you're a long time fan or new to their sound,
